Sarah Daniels is a respected elder and one of the highest-ranking Law women in her community of Balgo Hills, Western Australia. Born around 1933, Sarah grew up leading a traditional nomadic lifestyle, travelling and hunting across her ancestral land, Mina Mina, located north of Lake Mackay. She shares custodianship of this land with her sisters, Mitjilli and Nancy Naninurra, who are also artists. Sarah has been a key figure in maintaining cultural practices and Law, and her authority in these matters makes her a highly respected member of her community.
Since 1971, Sarah has lived in Balgo and has been painting with the Warlayirti Artists cooperative. Her work is marked by spontaneous and rhythmic brushstrokes often involving layers that represent elements of her Tjukurrpa (Dreaming) stories.
