- Artwork story
- The Rainbow Serpent travelled across the land bringing water (rain) with it and replenished the land. An abundance of the bush yam surfaced and Ancestral Nakamarra and Napurrula women celebrated a plentiful supply. Women “U” are shown sitting with their ‘I’ digging sticks and ‘O” coolamons collecting the yams. The sinewy lines represent Nagamarna, yam roots, and the circular shapes represent Mardu, a yam tuber emerging from underground. The sinewy lines are also symbolic of Warna the Snake.
