Artwork story
This painting depicts designs associated with the rockhole site of Illilunytungna, south of Mantati Outstation which is approximately 70kms west of Kintore. In mythological times an old woman, Kutungka Napanangka, visited this site before continuing her travels east to Muruntji, a large permanent water site, south-west of Mt Liebig. The roundels with the connecting lines show the rockhole sites she visited during her travels. This old woman was considered a 'bit of a devil-devil' as she killed and ate people.
