Artwork story
This diptych brings together sea life — crabs, fish, starfish, and marine motifs — rendered in brilliant ochres, reds, and blues. The composition overlays handprint stencils with x-ray style infill, evoking both ancestral presence and the living waters of Northern Australia. Wanjidari was an active artist in Cairns in the early 1990s, whose art practice sat at the nexus between tradition and contemporary expression.
