WFA CHARITY EXHIBITION
2nd - 17th Dec 2023
Newstead Art Gallery
Working for Animals (WFA) is a registered charity raising funds for approved animal shelter projects in India. WFA is Australia based but administers and supports two animal shelters in India at Darjeeling (DAS) and Kalimpong (KAS). They were founded by Christine Townend AO who started Animal Liberation in Australia, and Animals Australia with the famous Peter Singer. She worked for many years at the shelter Help in Suffering in Jaipur.
The artworks in the exhibition will be drawn from curator Ace Bourke’s Indian tribal art collection of artworks assembled over many trips to India, Christine Townend’s paintings, and photographs by Jeannette Lloyd Jones.

About the Cause
DAS and KAS shelters in the mountains have eliminated rabies in the communities, although this is ongoing, and contributed much else with their clinics, birth control programs, street dog interventions and programs and remote village veterinary camps.
Funding is required for an additional vet, extra staff, maintenance and expansion of the shelters, and setting the shelters up for the future.
